I should alert the masses that I have never been deer hunting (and to be honest would never want to go) but even I have figured out that if one is provided with safety gear and you are in a tree 20 feet off the ground and frequently not paying attention to deer stand you are in because you are focused on Bambi and his Mom a deer that one should probably WEAR the safety gear.
Case in point… dear, dear Mr Mesa… the lovely man who has helped me so much this year with all my yard work. Dear, dear Mr Mesa who is the most wonderful dad to JP… fell those 20 feet Saturday morning straight out of his deer stand.
He is currently in the hospital and HOPEFULLY gets to come home today. Are you sitting down?? Are YOU harnessed in?
He broke every rib on his left side. E V E R Y rib…. isn’t that like 7? Thank God he didn’t break his back or neck or skull. His lung collapsed but they were able to get it reinflated at the emergency room….
Morphine was his best friend (and they visited every 6 minutes, too) for a couple of days. He looked so much better yesterday and was actually his old self as they weaned him off the morphine and gave him something he would be able to transition home with.
I bought him a get well card and took it to the hospital. The front of the envelope said DAD… I decided that I am gonna adopt him… life is way too short and I have always heard Dad’s were cool.. (never had any first hand experience mind you since mine wouldn’t throw water on me if i was on fire) so I’ve adopted him!
JP is settling in… we tackled the outside storage building first so we would have a place for his bicycle and the lawn mower and various other real things that need to go in sheds. I literally threw it all away. I personally kept my high school diploma (only because JP told me to) and the commemorative coin from Princess Diana and Prince Charles wedding that my cousin Janet gave me…
I kept out my mother’s christmas things to give to Rhonda and Lewis… JP had me keep a jack o lantern with a witch hat for Bailee and I saved Rhonda’s band medals and trophies so she could decide what to do with them. EVERYTHING else went… beds…books… papers… crap.. junk… dreck… …. well you get the idea…
I felt good at getting rid of all of that… now i have a place for the stuff in the house that I might want to save for now… but I am going to be really purging that stuff as well… glad I had made some progress on the study before so we had room for a bunch of the stuff we needed to put in there this weekend… but ohhhhh man; it’s a train wreck and I can’t wait to get started in there this evening!!
Hats off to the City Sanitation department this morning… we sat the stuff that was trash trash out in the trash area and the stuff that is considered yard waste and household goods in the section of the yard for that pick up Wednesday figuring what the trash people didn’t pick up today we would put over in the other pile for tomorrow. Only the trash people today stopped at both piles and took everything! Yay!
Now it’s time to start making the next pile for them! I am taking my shedding to whole new, different levels!
beaucoup de bisous
